Escaped....

...to the woods of Kettle Moraine, Wisconsin, last week with my amazing partner and our cute little camper.  We've gone from tent camping to camper camping and it's such a huge change!  We're no longer sleeping on the ground on a blow-up mattress but on a queen-size bed with a memory foam topper and ahhhhhhhh! Ed has been tinkering with our little camper for the better part of a year, making incredible improvements and changes - building shelves, adding a pull-out awning, figuring out how to replace our Yeti cooler with a refrigerator that runs off of the solar panels he hooks up to the battery.  His eagerness and curiosity and love of building things has really enriched our camping experience with our little teardrop.  We can go just about anywhere and not worry about an electrical hookup because of his ingenuity in configuring  solar panels.  And honestly, the electrical campsites always seem to be right on top of each other, and I guess people with these huge honkin' homes on wheels don't mind the proximity of other homes on wheels, but one of the many reasons why we go camping is for the solitude.  With solar panels, we can camp anywhere!

This campsite at Mauthe (pronounced Moth-ee) Lake is one we were at on our very last tent camping adventure before Ed bought the camper.  It's a beautiful site, secluded, up a little hill, and about a 45-second walk from the lake.  We took gorgeous hikes, watched breathtaking sunsets, relaxed, ate well, took a side trip to Fond du Lac - what a cute little town on Lake Winnebago! - and, well, reset our minds and souls.  The world is a difficult place right now and unplugging in the woods for a week was just the ticket to restore us.

I hope you're able to find peace in this crazy mixed-up world right now.  I suggest a walk, tuning in to nature, unplugging, and listening to the rhythm of your heart, the birdsong, and being aware of where you are as you enjoy YOU.  Hoping this finds you having a lovely day.

Sunset over Mauthe Lake.  I mean, come on!!!
