I Couldn't Resist....

...going to one of my favorite antique malls yesterday after my plans of going to visit my mom in Indy were foiled by the rain (I don't like to drive on the highway in the rain -- people drive badly enough in the dry).  Big sale yesterday at the Broadway Antique Mall (I mean, come on, a summer sale!)  I admit it:  I'm a tchotchke-aholic.  As much as I want to think of myself as a minimalist, I'm just not.  I love me my little tchotchkes.  They make me smile....and life is short...and I work my butt off...anyway, spent oodles of time looking at every single thing.  And one of the things I've been ogling for, oh, two years now was 35% off!  35%!!!  Really!  As my friend Sarah would say, I'd be an idiot not to buy it!  So I did.  And a picture of it is below.  My Mamu Rosie (what we called our grandparents, Mamu and Papu) would be so proud -- she was an antique-aholic and I guess I inherited that gene from her.  She didn't care what shape things were in -- she just bought what she loved.  The Punch Bowl is a big running joke in our family:  She called my mom up one day and said, "Barbara, I just bought THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING.  A big carnival glass punch bowl."  My mom asked her to describe it.  The hitch:  there was a BIG hole in the back.  My grandmother didn't care.  She just turned the side with the hole to the wall and she loved that thing until she died :-) 

So now that I'm in an antique frame of mind, I just might have to take a walk to another one...yeah, I should be learning my lines...but I need a walk....and who knows what treasures I'll find?  Sigh.....
