A Really Cool....

....way to kick off spring this weekend -- rehearsals and readings for Continuum Theater and the Jewish Plays Project for the Midwest Jewish Play Writing Contest that took place in Northbrook.  We did 20-minute cuttings of three plays that were then judged by the audience for the winner to move on to the next round of competition.  The plays were fascinating and varied:  One was about a Jewish women's burial society; one was from a novel by Noah Gordon, The Last Jew, and adapted by an Israeli playwright; and another was by a young woman who was inspired to write her play when, while riding a bus in Israel, she met a young Orthodox Jewish woman who was pregnant, and that chance meeting sparked her imagination.  The event was coordinated by the lovely Devorah Richards and directed by the wonderful David Winitsky, founder of the Jewish Plays Project.  I got to meet some terrific new folks and also work with fabulous old friends.  A dynamic and exciting evening, to be sure.

Oh, and happy spring!!!!  Yay!!!!
