Being A Tourist....
....in your own town is fun! I had a voice-over job downtown yesterday doing some on-hold messages (such nice folks I worked with! The engineer said, "I want to call this number just to hear your voice." How sweet is that?!) Since I don't go downtown that much anymore, I thought it'd be fun just to walk around a bit and see all the changes that are continuously happening in the Loop. So many new buildings and stores and restaurants! I ended up going to the Art Institute to see if I could get my dad a cool Father's Day card. Alas, the AI has really changed their card selection :-( Not a lot to choose from, but I did end up with a neat Chicago skyline cutout that is both card and art :-) Yep, this is a really cool city. I remember when I first moved here and would gape at the tall buildings in wonder and be amazed at all of the people! (Growing up in Indianapolis, which was very rural at that time where we were, it was like being in another world living in Chicago!) A fun morning, for sure, and then it was too many people, so I hightailed it back home.
On another front, the cottonwood trees are sending out so many seeds, it looked like it was snowing yesterday at the softball fields! What a wonderful sight!
My photos from yesterday are being very slow to migrate to my computer, so I'll leave you with this image of the raccoon that has adopted my mom as its mom, waiting for her to come out and feed it. It's poised in the crotch of one of the big old maple trees in the back yard :-)
