Extremely Grateful....

....that I've been fortunate enough to be in the 28-Hour Workshop at Chicago Dramatists since the day after Election Day and be around the creative, fun, intelligent, insightful, funny, giving, exciting, warm, fabulous Randy Steinmeyer, Lance Newton, Mark Ulrich, John Green, and Steve Scott.  Quite frankly, I don't know what I would have done with myself had it not been for these rehearsals and delving into John's intricate script, all of us coming together after a devastating night the night before, pouring out our grief and outrage and disbelief and pain and then channeling all of it into rehearsal and turning our frightened, angry energies into creativity.  It's been a sanctuary and a saving grace.  We culminate in a reading on Saturday at Dramatists....then what am I going to do?  I'm worried about being stuck with my own dark thoughts about the future, something pretty alien to me because I really am the glass-is-overflowing optimist that sometimes really irritates people with my sunny look-on-the-bright-side-of-life disposition.  This is a challenge....I don't know how to turn this one around.....

Can't end on such a dark note of despair.  Here's one of my Mom's Blue Jays.  Beautiful birds, aren't they?
