First ever blog entry

A rainy, gloomy Monday seems like the perfect day to start a blog.

I've been fortunate to be invited to do a first-ever project at Chicago Dramatists, workshopping a new play by Resident Playwright Dana Lynn Formby.  We began last Saturday by rehearsing for a staged reading for the Saturday series, which garnered much food for thought and wonderful input from the enthusiastic audience.  This past Friday we began the process of working on individual scenes, playing and improving and getting up on our feet to explore the text.  Chicago Dramatists received a grant for this exciting venture and we hope this is the first of many to come.  Yesterday we had a six-hour rehearsal, reading and working on new material that Dana brought in for us to discuss and explore.   We'll take off this week for Thanksgiving, then meet up again for an intense weekend of further fun and exploration.

Next up -- Will Dunne's Scene Shop Showcase on Monday, December 15th at 7:30 p.m.  at Chicago Dramatists.  Playwrights submit scenes to a judge and those picked receive a rehearsed staged reading.  It's a glorious, fun, and exciting evening.  I have been honored to be the host since its inception and will also be appearing in three scenes that evening.
