Out With The Old....
....in with the new. As every turn of the year is, right? Although every second that passes by is the same thing, isn't it - out with the old...
Do you make resolutions just one time of the year or are resolutions an ongoing thing? I'm sure most people don't wait till the end of the year to decide to make changes, though it's interesting how turning the page on a new year makes you think of what you want moving forward. I make resolutions just about every day. I probably adhere to 36% of them, though I have every intention of doing 100% of the fabulous ideas I come up with. Why don't a lot of them stick? Why do we dream of doing something, think about it, envision it, plan for it, get excited about it, tell our friends, then let it slide away or shelve it? Fear? I struggle with that, the idea of fear keeping us from doing things. Fear of what? Success? Happiness? Achieving what we most want? That's so strange. Happiness and success aren't scary! There's that old adage of do one thing a day that scares you. For some, that could be getting out of bed. Others, smiling at a stranger. Taking a new class. Quitting your job. Trying a new cuisine. Walking down a street you've never walked down. Petting a dog. I try to rule my fears and not let my fears rule me, although when I look at the 64% of the things I don't do that I want to do, am I just fooling myself? Maybe my resolution today is start working on the 64%.
Whatever your fear is, whatever your dreams are, I hope you conquer one and achieve the others. Happy last day of 2022.
