....the culmination of the 28-Hour Workshop at Chicago Dramatists, which was a morning rehearsal followed by a SRO reading in the theater. And a standing ovation, I might say -- completely unexpected and an amazing way to end this journey. I took two great pictures of us and somehow have erased them -- trying not to cry as I write this -- so I guess we'll just have to keep those moments in our hearts and souls. This particular workshop will remain with me always, like the seminal days that we remember collectively and individually: where were you when John Lennon was shot? Where were you when 9/11 happened? I will always remember this particular workshop with these particular wonderful, amazing people -- Randy Steinmeyer, Mark Ulrich, Lance Newton, John Green, and Steve Scott -- because our first rehearsal was the day after the election and I honestly don't know what I would have done with myself had I not had an artistic home to retreat to with these marvelous individuals to hug and share our outrage and disbelief and acknowledge that we woke up that morning in a bizarro world where nothing makes sense. We poured out our anger and fear and heartbreak and sorrow, and then we got down to the work of creating and collaborating and laughing and exploring and losing ourselves in the work, and that is an evening I will never forget. Where were you post-election 11/9/16? I was in a rehearsal room with some of the best folks on the planet for which I will be forever grateful.
And then walking to my car after, I saw this glued on a wall of a construction site.
