....to the Chicago Botanic Garden this week -- glorious!!! Thank goodness we have people with foresight who want to preserve land and plant it with all sorts of earthly delights or let it be what it is so that we can revel in the glory of Mother Nature. Thank goodness for Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Stephen Mather, and Horace Albright, the masters of the National Parks. Thank goodness for Joy Morton, who gave us the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. Thank goodness for Daniel Burnham, who made sure no one built anything along the lake. Thank goodness for the decision to have Central Park in the busiest city in the United States. Thank goodness for all of the forward-thinking people who love the land and realize how precious it is. I wish we were all better stewards of these great gifts....
