Zzzzzzzzz....

 .....ahhhhhhhhhhh....Rusty let me sleep in until 9:46 this morning!  Woke me with a plaintive meow, needing attention desperately.  Man, did I need the sleep!  Uber-busy week last week!  Had rehearsals and then the reading of The Labeler by Dana Lynn Formby for the MFA directing program at DePaul where I got to work with some of my favorite actors and a really astute and lovely director who is just graduating from the program.  Also had Apple Vacations voice-overs for the East Coast.  Hosted the 13th Scene Shop at Chicago Dramatists on Monday night, which was a blast, as always.  Ten vastly different scripts and voices from ten wonderful playwrights.  A great week, but boy, it was GREAT to sleep in :-)

Saw Dana's American Beauty Shop at Chicago Dramatists last night with a good friend.  What a rich, funny, heartbreaking, lovely script, and it was so interesting to see her show after working on another of her shows this week.  She has a unique voice and vernacular and way of writing, so much subtext but so much also with the spoken word and complicated relationships and interesting sentence structure and it was a really terrific night of theater.  My friend and I should have gone for a drink afterwards -- we ended up standing on the sidewalk, talking about the show (and many other topics) for quite a while in the sultry humidity.

Gosh, Memorial Day Weekend already!  Where the heck does the time go?????  Hope your weekend is everything you want it to be :-)
